MoveProtect is an extension to our standard contract that allows us to accept liability for loss or damage to your goods whilst in our care. This additional cover is available to all our customers.
With our unbeatable shrink wrap packing systems 1st Move takes the utmost care of your goods whilst in transit. We maximise the safety and security of your move by minimising the risks involved when shipping by sea. This greatly reduces instances of loss and damage and of course the stress and inconvenience of making a claim.
However, due to the distances travelled by sea and the need for other parties to handle your goods, including overseas customs officers and port handling agents, we strongly recommend our MoveProtect cover. Important Notes on Owner Packed Goods
When Packed by 1st Move: Loss and Damage Included
To ensure any expensive or fragile items have adequate cover for loss or damage these items MUST be itemised, checked and professionally packed by us.
When Packed by You: Loss Only, No Damage Cover
Many customers are happy to pack nonfragile items like toys, clothing, bedding etc or any items which don’t have any intrinsic value. As we do not know the condition of any goods you have packed yourself these items can only be covered for loss and NOT damage. Please include any items you have packed yourself on your inventory valuation.
Only goods which have been declared on your home valuation form are covered.
Valuation Form - Please use this form to provide us with details of your goods and the value of items to be shipped. This must be completed before your moving day.
