Living in Thailand

The cost of living in Thailand is 92% cheaper than in the UK , making it an extremely affordable place to live. A 3-bedroom apartment in the city will cost THB 38,165.67 (£878.54) per month in rent, compared to THB 76,573.92 (£1,762.67) in the UK. Transportation, groceries, utilities and restaurant prices are all more affordable in Thailand. The average salary is significantly lower in Thailand, averaging at THB 19,821.76 (£456.28) per month, but the low cost of living helps to balance this out.

The public healthcare system in Thailand is funded by the government to provide universal healthcare to Thai citizens and residents at little to no cost. There is also private healthcare available that offers lower waiting times but comes at a higher cost. The level of care in both public and private hospitals is of a high standard. Many expats opt to get health insurance to cover private healthcare costs.

Primary education in Thailand begins at age 6 and ends at 12 where students attend lower secondary school until the age of 15. You can typically find these in major cities such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket. Some public schools in Thailand offer English Program classes where students are taught in English.
