I’ll take 13 days for an international move to St. Lucia from the UK. This is the time it takes from Portsmouth to the port of Castries in St. Lucia. This doesn’t include the time it takes to pack or for final delivery.

The main port for St. Lucia is the Port of Castries. On arrival, all goods will have to undergo customs clearance which will be handled with the help of our agents in St. Lucia. Once cleared you can collect directly from our warehouse or we can arrange onward delivery to most destinations, including Castries, Bisee, Vieux Fort, Micoud, Soufrière, Dennery, Gros Islet, Praslin, Canaries and more. Returning residents of St. Lucia who have lived out of the country for over 10 years can import personal effects and household items for free if they are used and imported either 6 months before or after arrival. New residents moving to St. Lucia usually qualify for reduced rates and sometimes duty-free customs if they can be proven to be used items. You’ll need to have your documentation in order before we can ship your items to St. Lucia. We will work with you to ensure you’re prepared for customs with the correct forms and residency permits. You will need:

  • A copy of your passport including the visa page
  • Proof of residency or new resident permit
  • A Bill of Lading which is issued by 1st Move International and highlights the contents of the shipment

UK citizens do not need a visa for stays up to 6 weeks in St. Lucia and can apply for an extension for longer stays up to 6 months. Past this, you will need to apply for the relevant visa, whether that’s temporary or permanent residence.

Work Visa

You’ll need to apply for a work permit if you plan to work in St. Lucia. This type of visa will be valid for the duration that you are employed. You can either have a Temporary Work Permit or Long-Term Work Permit depending on the known duration of the job.
